The
faculty of the College of Science consists of 95
diligent faculty members, all of who are
determined to deliver high quality undergraduate
and graduate education to university students.
In the academic year 2006-2007, there were 828
students enrolled in various programs offered by
the College of Science. The College also offers
many service courses to the Colleges of
Engineering, IT, Arts, and Business. In addition
to our educational goals, the faculty members
participate in the development of new knowledge
based on high quality scientific research, where
both our faculty and students participate
actively in basic and applied research in the
different disciplines.
The College of Science comprises of four
academic departments: Mathematics, Biology,
Chemistry, and Physics. Each department offers
programs leading to the Bachelor’s of Science
degree. Additionally, the Mathematics department
offers a Master’s degree program.
Our Bachelor’s programs are well established,
and closely match similar programs offered by
reputed international universities, and by
regional universities. Our programs provide the
students with the necessary education to pursue
employment, as well as preparation for graduate
education pursuing advanced degrees. Many of our
graduates are employed throughout Bahrain and
the Gulf region in medical firms, educational
and industrial institutions. As for our program
graduates who opted to pursue higher degrees, It
gives me pleasure to report that a number of
them have been accepted by reputable American,
Australian, Canadian, and British universities
for the Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy
Degrees, and have shown excellent performance.
The College of Science continuously evaluates
and reviews its B.Sc. program curricula, and
introduces modifications to be in line with both
global developments in Science and the
educational strategy of the Kingdom of Bahrain,
by introducing necessary field to fulfill the
community needs and widen job opportunities for
our graduates. The latest modification plans in
the College programs allow for introducing more
major-minor options, and to widen the scope of
multidisciplinary courses in the departments.
The College of Science Continuing Education
Center opens windows of opportunity to interact
with the community, providing workshops, short
courses and seminars that benefit many
educational, health, and industrial
organizations. Moreover, the different
departments continuously organize seminars and
public lectures to present the latest
developments in scientific knowledge and
technology.
